It’s almost pride month! You know what this means – parades, Pride Month collections, and, as always, controversy.
Last year, major retailers came under fire for their Pride Month collections. There were countless Facebook posts and outrage aimed at Target. This continued to the point that Target pulled its pride collection. This year, the retailer has scaled back their pride collections and will not participate in as many pride-related events.
Pride month and big corporations often see controversy just as Target faced last year. This criticism comes from both sides - LGBTQ people and more conservative people.
In all of this controversy, I was so happy to see a corporation that is doing a great job. I recently saw a TikTok about Abercrombie and Fitch and their plans for Pride Month. Not only do they have some super cute items in their Pride Month collection, like this crochet style button-up, or this amazing Freddie Mercury sweater, both of which will be joining my closet soon, but the best part of their Pride Month plan is an incredible $400,000 donation to the Trevor Project! In addition to this nearly half-a-million-dollar donation regardless of sales, their website states they have raised over $5 million for the Trevor Project.
Abercrombie and Fitch is doing it right in a time when it seems no one can figure out the right recipe. If you are in the market for some cute pride clothes, make sure to visit their site!
