An update from the Browns

We have taken a break from Wednesdays with the Browns this quarter, so we thought it would be fun to fill the Affirming Quakers family in on what our lives have consisted of lately, and what we’re looking forward to in the upcoming months.

Exciting things we’ve done recently:

We built a new hammock house! We had a small patio with a few spots for hammocks, but I wanted to jazz it up a little. So, I ripped it out and built a new one! Now we have spots for four hammocks, a new floating deck, and a place for our projector screen. We also got a few beautiful Adirondack chairs and a propane heater. It has been so nice in Kansas recently, other than some wind, and we have spent many nights hanging out on the deck doing homework.

Madi and I are coaching two soccer teams in a local league. We spend most of our day each Saturday cheering on our players. It has been so fun to watch them play!

April is full of birthdays in our family. Madi recently turned 26, and two of our nephews have birthdays close to hers too so there have been lots of celebrations lately.

Things we’re working through:

It’s the end of the school year and there are about a million events on the calendar between now and the middle of May. We only have about 16 days left with students. Madi and I are both working on graduate degrees, which feels like an additional full-time job. It’s a crazy time of the year, but it’s full of fun things to do, so I guess it isn’t all bad.

Things we’re looking forward to:

Summer! We have lots of fun trips planned already for our summer break and teachers always look forward to that little bit of time off to rest and recuperate before the next school year. I am taking on one new role at school as the technology director next year and Madi is going to be teaching third grade. We are both looking forward to these changes!

I hope that whatever season you’re in, you can find joyful things to get you through it, even when it seems all bad.
